Tony Marlow

Master Tony Marlow

7th Degree

I am Grand Master Tony Marlow, Head Instructor and school owner of the Richland Dojo since 2006. I have personally been involved in TaeKwonDo since 1978 when as a Freshman at Iowa State University, I took a PE class with Master Yong Chin Pak. I spent the next 6 years training under Master Pak in this outstanding College based program. After graduating from College, getting married, and moving away I became the head instructor at the South Suburban YMCA in Des Moines, Iowa where I ran a program very much like my Richland Dojo school. My schools have always been family oriented, a place where moms, dads, brothers and sisters can learn the wonder of TaeKwonDo together. I have never separated my classes by age. I have always used the natural process of rank and skill level as the tool to break the classes up to allow families to grow and advance together. In March, 2018 I will be celebrating 40 years of TaeKwonDo with over 35 years as an instructor. The Tri-Cities TaeKwonDo School is not a full-time occupation for me - it is more of a calling or a labor of love. I teach because I love to teach and I believe God wants me to teach. Master Pak always encouraged us as instructors to spend a few minutes of every class talking about life and life's lessons with our students. Several years ago, I started using the Bible's Book of Proverbs as my class room discussion tool. At the end of each class we will spend 3 to 5 minutes discussing one or two verses directly from this book of wisdom.
My two Black Belt assistant instructors are home grown students. Both have been working with me for several years and have received their Black Belts while training with me.
